I've been wanting to do a picture of Oni Ryo for a LONG time now...
So, I finally did.

This character hasnt been drawn for... errrr... 2 years or so? O__o
Not since I first created him...

So, for those of you who HAVENT been keeping up with me for ages... I better explain some things about him.
(I'd like to point out... HIM. Ryo STILL is a guy... Really. Dont let the scrawny physique and girlish hair fool you... >__>;;; )

This, is Ryo Misaki.
The same Ryo Misaki I've been drawing in just about every other drawing I do...
However, this is a bit different...
I did mention ONI Ryo. (Demon Ryo)

Long ago, after a couple years after creating Ryo... I decided that I wanted him to have some sort of dark past, and alternate/transformed persona...
You know... like so many over done Anime cliches? Yeah, I fell into that... XD

So, I created this Demon Ryo.
Technically... He's not a demon, though. He's actually just a (MUCH stronger) alternate personality.
You see, Oni Ryo is actually a physical manifestation of negative emotion.
You remember how Ryo is always happy, right? Naturally, it's impossible for someone to be like this. Inevitably, someone has to experience some anger, or sadness, or loneliness... But Ryo seemingly doesnt.
So how? He takes all of the negative emotion he feels, and pushes it away. But, not away, rather just deep down inside of him.
Because of this, he doesnt feel it... But that doesnt mean its gone.
Over a great period of time, this emotion actually accumulated and took on its own entity. (Yeah, Ryo's technically a Schitzo. XD)

So, Ryo has his normal happy personality... And now, this deep dark, somewhat evil personality which is an amalgamation of negative emotion.
During times of extreme emotion... (Great anger, or sadness... say, from someone close dying... Or fear, maybe if he's about to die...) This alternate personality actually surges forth, and takes over.

Thus, Ryo transformes into the other dark... Oni Ryo. ^_^;;;

There are several differences... Most notably, the eyes. They're almost catlike... They're also yellow... but you cant see that here. XD
His hair grows longer. The bangs that only went to his eyes before, now actually fall to below his face... and the other, longer ones extend a bit more also. His hair in the back falls almost to his waist now, as well.
His clothes color also invert. Normally Ryo wears white with a touch of black... (If he's in his traditional uniform, and not in casual clothes. =P)
Now, they turn black with a bit of white.
And the sword. The MASSIVE sword... (An original design of mine from 6 years ago... XD Modified to hugeness due to an obsesson of the time with Ruroni Kenshin (Sanosuke's Zanbato) and Inuyasha (His Tetsuaiga).)
The Oni actually transforms Ryo's bokken into this sword. And, despite it's size... he swings it with great ease. =P

You'll notice the large presence of the Yin Yang on Ryo's clothes here... (On the cuffs, on the neck, and on the sword. Yes, it's actually WITHIN a Triforce... Hey, I loved Zelda. XD)
Not to mention the blending of black and white on Ryo's clothes... It's all to symbolize the balance...
Black and white, Dark and light, Yin Yang, Good and Evil... You know the routine. =P
See, Ryo has this other, "evil" personality inside him... So, there is this kind of balance... And that's why I like the use of the Yin Yang. =P

So... I guess that's enough rambling...

I had issues with this drawing at first... I couldnt even get the damned sword right! (Course, it could be that I havent drawn it in over 2 years... AND I drew it with no reference. XD)
But, it came out quite nicely. I still have a few issues with the hand holding the sword... It's a touch small.
The face came out great... but the bang on the left should have been closer. It was ment to actually fully cover the eye.
But, it worked out. And I'm very happy with it.

Once again, I love the sword!!! *_* I think you did a really great job with the perspective. Bah, I really shouldn't be ranting on perspective. I'm horrible at it, remember?! XD Anyways the shading on the face, I like it for some reason. *is a shade freak* Ryo's dark side is really cool. Heh, I remember when I realized my own dark side, but I never really drew it.....YEAH!! Heh, I got an idea for a picture. How 'bout Ryo and Chihiro's dark sides battling with their zanpakto? Well, I still have to create mine but yeah...anyways, I still like it alot! :D

Mmm... Yes, the sword.
I've always been FASCINATED by weapons...
It's the ONLY thing I would/could draw before... well, before I could DRAW. XD

Like I mentioned... I created this sword design about 5-6 years ago... Before I could actually draw. =P
It was originally (and still) done by messing around with a ruler. It's so angular and nifty. O__o

I need to try to find that old paper where I first made it. It's STILL exactly the same. (Except the Yin Yang. That was added in this picture. Oh, and the Tsuka (the 'butt' end of the sword) was originally flat, but with spikes. Later I evolved it into a ball. o_O)

Yeah... I've done several pictures of Oni Ryo with shading... For some reason, it's VERY fitting for him to be in shadows, or have the top half, or some half of his face covered in shadow...
It makes sense with the whole dark nature of the character. =P

He IS pretty cool... Except for the fact that he's evil... and a murderer...
I've come up with HUUUUGE storylines and stuff for/with Ryo and the Oni...
One story... Of Ryo's past and the creation of the Oni... I had started writing. Almost 2 years ago... >.<
Never did finish it. It's really interesting though. XD
It also explains the signifigance of the Necklace. O__o;;;

The Oni himself... He has several different attitudes. The one I most like to portray him with is this dark, silent, moody (kinda emo?) style... Very silent, very dark, and most certianly brooding.
However... he does also have a wild, battle crazed, side...
But again, it makes sense for him to have these different personality styles, since he's created from negative emotion. So, what would normally be a slight change in mood... slightly angry, or sad, or hateful... It's portrayed VERY extremey in the Oni form.

I could go on for hours about personailty, actions, and concepts with my character... But I'll save you the boring rambling. XD

Chihiro-chan has a dark side too? It seems unfitting... Have thought much into it? If you come up with a character design for the dark side, I can do that picture. I like it.

As for Battling, though... Ryo and Chihiro battling each other? Or together? Or what?
Also, Oni Ryo doesnt use a Zanpakuto. In fact, Ryo doesnt use a Zanpakuto at all... The picture I made with the Zanpakuto was completely seperate from the Real Ryo and storyline associated. I just felt like creating a Zanpakuto and making Ryo a Shinigami for a one shot instance. =P

But yeah... If you give me the details, I can certianly do a picture. I do owe you one... Err... two (for the Ryo drawing AND the send of Curus. =P) now. XD

Hmmm....I'll think of a dark side pretty soon. Yeah, kinda unfitting for me! XD I DID realize this like...4 years ago. The image never was clear in my head, but I was pretty sure. I did a couple of these "angle/devil" kind of pics, but I was such a bad drawer then. XD Well, I guess with my improved skills, I can make something at least decent this time...hmm...well I was thinking of a friendly-battle type of thing. Y'know, like those battles two friends have for fun just to see their new skills and stuff. It's not like killing each other. So yeah, I'll think of something and your welcome! :D

I guess it's only natural for everyone to have a bit of a dark side... >__>

Mmm... yeah, the Angel/Devil style... It's awesome. Creates an amazing mood of contrast.
I've tried that a couple times... One of my best had Ryo sitting next to a candle... and the half of the face illuminated by the candle was normal, but as it moved further from the light, the shadowed part of the face was Oni Ryo.
It was pretty good, but my drawing wasn't as good back then.
I should dig that up. >_>

Ah... yes... Those "Friendly-Battles"... (They're actually called 'Spars', you know. =P)
I'm REALLY quite fond of them... ^_^
(In my drawing/storyline AND in real life... I'm constantly looking for a good person to spar. ^_^;;; )

I really like the idea, though... So you better get to thinking/designing quick! XD

Cool, kinda reminds me of Hellsilver, though he's sometimes a seperate entity.

Wow... You actually commented? =P

I dun think I've ever SEEN Hellsilver, have I?

I really dont know alot of the storyline of your character...
You should fill me in sometime... >__>;;;

But yeah, Ryo and Oni Ryo is the same entity... The only time they are ever seperate, is for artistic purposes... To show contrast and whatnot... =P

I'm still a big fan of the Oni character though. He's awesome. XD

Raiagulon and Hellsilver are the same entity sometimes, though then they look pretty much the same. And here you go:

As for the story, basically Hellsilver's the evil side of Raiagulon,which becomes more prevalent as he kills people in fits of rage [not that he goes around killing random people, just those that piss him off by killing someone close], until by a set of circumstances causes said evil side to be expelled as a seperate being.

Hellsilver appears twice, the first time he's reabsorved by Raiagulon after being severely weakened by positive energy. The second time he's destroyed, at the end of the story.

Dude... he has a tenticle... coming out of his chest...
Do you have ANY idea how successful he'd be in Hentai? XD

Not bad... I just could never go for the kinda grotesque monster designs.... With the spikes, and the axe arms and the tenticles and all... It just never suited me. =P
The point for me was to make the Oni as Human seeming as possible, just VERY moody, and have incredible power. XD

So Ragiagulon actually kills people out of rage?
See... Ryo refuses to kill anyone... And if anyone DOES die, it's because the Oni took over and killed them. O__o;;;

Oh, so you've actually finished the storyline of your character? And Hellsilver is destroyed?
Mmm... in my case... Ryo actually later finds that the Oni really isnt as much as a 'monster' as he portrays him to be... And they actually come to terms of sort... allowing Ryo to willingly tap into the Oni's power, or even fully transform without negative consequence. =P

That's the vortex, which is this odd Venom-esque substance, from which things can spring out. Coincidentally, he wants to get rid of it because it causes him pain [and he believes he'd be a full being with it gone]. And the hentai thought has crossed my mind, but he's really not an amorous kinda guy.

Out of my heroes, Raiagulon is the most questionable. He's not exactly the hero in the battling evil sense [while he does do so at times, at others he consorts with villains]. But yeah, usually he feels some guilt after he cools off. This creates an eventual gap between him and Hellsilver.

My stories are usually done in blocks, I guess. The Raiagulon one ends with Hellsilver's death [and Raiagulon's faux death, as it appears that he died, but later appears in another story]. He does indeed die, though has another return [not returning from the dead, mind you, but appearing post-death].

Of course, I don't have every detail planned out, and I change things with time, but some things are set.
