"If I were the luckiest man on this earth... If I crawl this field all day and night... If I find the only one in this endless ocean of green... Would, then, I finally get the chance for you to notice me...?"
Haha, cheesy, I know... But it seemed fitting.
So yeah, yesterday was St. Patrick's Day. And for some reason, I felt the urge to draw.
This idea of lying in a field of Shamrocks (Yeah... that's what that large background of green is supposed to be. It crossed my mind to try drawing individual looking shamrocks... But then I realized how ridiculous, and horrifically painstaking that would be.) and holding up the one and only Four Leaf Clover in the whole area came to me while I was at work. So much for an exciting night. xD
Anyway, I had pondered the idea, but never thought I'd do anything with it until I laid down and bed... And decided I didn't want to sleep. So I went to drawing. ...now, it's been ages since I've done a holiday special drawing... (Um, since Christmas? 2 years ago? xD) And I've never done a St. Patrick's Day one... But why not?
So I came up with this. It was a simple drawing... First time I've done a straight up perspective with the arm like that... And surprisingly, I made it work. Drew it and penned it in under an hour. So I decided, hey, let's color it. xD
So I grabbed my Prismacolors. This is the first time I've used them. Yes, the first. I bought them in late October (birthday gift, yay!), sharpened them (BLOODY expensive colored pencils, and they don't even have the courtesy to PRE SHARPEN THEM? WTF??) in mid November... Then never touched them again. xD
...So I did now. And produced the best looking colored piece I've ever done. I'm really quite proud of this. There's a feeling of depth and vibrancy with the color that I've never had before. I think I'm in love. ^__^
Your proportions are getting better. I do like the theme and perspective. Also traditional mediums aren't used enough now adays. You're right, the coloring looks great and you should be proud of this piece.
Thank you! I'm usually HORRID (still am. Need more practice!) with straight on views... I don't know why it's so hard to get the perspective of something like an arm pointed straight forward. -_-;;;
Yeah... I still only do traditional mediums... Pencil/Pen and Paper colored with Color Pencils. ...mostly because I still don't know how to properly color in Photoshop... Nor do I seem to have enough time at a computer to bother with it.
I am rather proud. Thanks! ...now if only I could keep producing something like this. <__<

You will. If you stick with it you'll see improvements. I myself tend to learn the most when I study other artists work. You can pick up a lot that way.
Ewww... Crayons... It's hard to get anything good out of them. Too waxy and doesn't blend.
Colored pencils tend to be my medium of choice... Mostly because I've not gotten money for good markers yet.
If you use GOOD color pencils, its a good way of coloring... (Prismacolors are EPIC! If you can't afford them, Crayola are surprisingly good.) But if you use shitty ones (NEVER, EVER EVER use RoseArt. I almost ruined several pieces with that mistake. >.< it's awful.
These Prisma's though, as you can see, work well. Provided you can blend colors well. I'm still learning, so I can't use them AS efficiently as I'd like, but I'm getting there.

Actually, the only coloring medium I'm pleased with (that I tried) is Photoshop. Admittedly, I haven't really used any other methods for a while, and this is coming from a guy who only tried using pencils instead of pens for drawing last year (mechanical is the only way to go, though).
I recall you mentioning that you wanted to Oil Paint before. I actually DO have a good set of oil paints. O_o Never used, them, though. I don't really know how to paint, so I don't want to mess it up bad. I think it layers well if it drys, though.
You should give colored pencils a shot again, though. If you do it right, you can do really good works with them.
Though I wish I knew how to Photoshop... I really really need to learn how.
And yeah, I use Mecha Pencils too. It's the only pencil I use. xD But I always pen over it. Pencil first, then pen. Always. O_o
